My advice : never use L J hooker Bunderberg . Lack of professional standard. I vacated a unit looked after by L G hooker bundaberg almost 2 months ago and they are really unprofessional.
First they cancelled the person that I arranged to do carpet cleaning and got one of their own without informing me and after repeated email sent me an invoice of amount $430 ( cleaned carpet and 2 bedroom unit)
It is almost 2 months since I vacated and still waiting for invoice for curtain cleaning and light bulb change.
I had to take them to RTA and they gave amount of $135 to change 6 light bulb and failed to produce invoice even now.Similar story with curtain cleaning - the unit I was renting is already rented out again now for almost 2 months and the curtain has not been cleaned ( by the way the curtain cleaning was not part of written contract) but they have charged $70 without invoice. Almost 2 months yet not able to give invoice but claimed bond money from RTA, Unfortunately RTA does not have power to request Invoice. I am at this stage contemplating whether to take them to tribunal.
Many years ago I visited a unique baffling phenomenon known as the “Mystery Craters”. As it has been almost 20 years since my initial visit, I thought I would return to see if the mystery of the craters formation had been solved. Not yet it seems; in fact this phenomenon is still baffling teams of international geologists to this day and the site has become known as an unsolved mystery of the World. The largest of the craters was discovered in 1999 which was part of a geological dig and samples were taken by Bundaberg University. Volcanic marbles were found which were similar to those located at an extinct volcano 2klms away. There are many theories which include: part of a meterorite, roof of a subterranean lake caused by oil pressure underground, result of sea action, sink holes from volcanic action or hot spring activity. However, so far not one of the World's geologists can confirm the authenticity of any of these theories. Photographs on the walls inside the gallery show the property before 1971 when Mr Murrin's plough got caught on something. The property was a small regional crop farm. Further investigation revealed a large foot-shaped hole of 18ft across which appeared to be lined with sandstone. Siltstone inside craters reveals a top surface mixture of sandstone and ochre with the ochre stain evenly distributed through the sandstone. Petrified wood was also found with fossilled worms inside. On some of the walls of the larger craters there are strange markings and notable recessed areas as if man-made. We were informed that a large hole was drilled 600 metres down, only to find that the ochre and sandstone formation remained evenly distributed all the way down. Oddities about these craters are that some hold water and some do not; they can dry out completely or fill up to the brim yet none is interlinked with the other. Some also contain minerals in which birdlife likes to drink and bathe. A tree stands above one crater and it is thought that if the crater were exposed the tree may die. Three craters remain covered in their original state; however there are 32 for you to view. Other displays of interest consist of a gift shop and gallery of rocks and minerals along with a shed full of old machinery. So is it worth the visit? Definitely! You may have some ideas yourself to unravel this amazing puzzle.
In June 2013 Federal Backpackers was sold and is now under new management. When we took over the hostel was in need of renovations as the building was built in the late 1800's. We are in the process of renovations but are still open to business. We would like to thank you all for your patience while the renovations are occurring as this will take a little bit of time but by the end of the journey we will endeavor to have the hostel to a more pleasant standard but still keeping the charm of the old building. We have now also incorporated a fast speed internet cafe, tour information and booking service along with an Asian Supermarket.
I arrived here from melbourne, travelled so far to come to work.Turned up and payed $160 for rent $42 for travel and $30 for key deposit which sounds ok right? If your going to be working.I stayed there the first night and my name was on the list for working the first day and i was so excited.I Turned up and there were hundreds of people waiting to start work then the farm accepted randomers first over the people which had been waiting in the sun for hours. So we got no work! Next day i went back and there were no bags left, so was once again I had to return home. I then reluctantly went back the next day and luckily there was a bag free but the farmers treated all the lemon pickers with no respect and everyone who worked there was unhappy and was only staying there for either money or their 2nd year visa. I worked 8 hours solidly in the sun hoping to fill a bin by myself but the bin is huge and only filled half so i should have been paid $50. After day one i quit due to be picked on by the farmer ALL DAY so i refused to go back. Later i told federal what had happened and they told me i had to go back to the farm to tell them i was leaving.Would i really want to go back when they spoke to me with no respect? I didn't and gave my friend my bag and cutter to give back to the farmer and they never paid me for the day i worked and i got charged transport every day i went so $21 was lost for no work?? In my advice make sure your not going to this hostel without going into a contracted job paid hourly otherwise you may end up waiting on the standby list. I have now gone into wwoofing so if you don't need money go into wwoofing as it is much better and lots of nice farmers who will regain you trust with farmers again. Also the hostel was disgusting and had lots of rats & Bed bugs! I also got no cover for my bed as well so please do not go there.... you have been warned!
