The marina area has a nice selection of modern and well maintained shops covering all kinds of foods and supplies. It all looked the part, but was too suburban - it looked like they just picked up a chunk of the mainland and plonked it ib the ocean - you'd never know you were on an island paradise. It was all clean and tidy, and had all that we needed for a days outing.
Not a bad place to eat for the price. We have to remember that we are paying a little extra because you are eating at a resort. I'm not a fan of restaurants that ask you to got to the bar for drinks and order at a counter for food but we were hungry and relaxed so in the end we enjoyed our meal. We had a big feed between four of us - squid and buffalo wings as entree followed by steak, ribs, Atlantic Salmon and a couple of sides for mains. Nothing superb but all of decent quality. The squid and the steak were probably the best parts of the meal both well prepared and presented - the squid was tender and full of flavour with crisp and crunchy batter and the steak was well seasoned, well cooked and of a high quality. The ribs were good: a generous serve, cooked well with the meat falling off the bone in a rich sauce, although personally i like a bit more spice and acid to balance something sweet and heavy - which this sauce was. The let-downs were the wings which were not like any 'Buffalo Wings' I'd tasted and were bland and a little small (sounds petty but they were about 30% smaller than your average chicken wing). I got the feeling they had toned the hot sauce flavour right back to please an 'Australian Tourist' palate. The Atlantic Salmon was seasoned and cooked nicely but was served with some sort of tropical Kiwi Fruit salsa that wasn't to our liking. Overall, we were satisfied and would eat there again but would avoid anything that wasn't typical steak house fare and stick to steak and ribs. For my money I preferred the Marina Tavern and the Fish & Chip shop on Hamilton Island when we weren't on the balcony looking over the water having a barbecue!
