Loved it - the animals were great, there was a nice selection and they were all Australian, so was nice to see us being presented to the world in this way. The zoo was small, only taking about 15 minutes to walk around, but the animals were well looked after and the venue was excellent, keeping with the natural setting and forest environment. The staff were a little hopeless trying to purchase entry tickets, and the whole entry process was very convoluted, but once inside the gate it was fine. Was also a shame that the animal feedings and talks were all very late or early in the day, so people coming from the mainland weren't able to see them (as the ferries back to the mainland don't run that early or late). We really loved to zoo and think its a great showcase of Australia.
My husband, three little kids and I have stayed at this park several times over the last 3 years and have found it fabulous! We have stayed in both our 22 ft van and in the cabins. The cabins are new, clean and most importantly air conditioned!!. The staff are friendly and very accommodating! The pool and BBQ area had been updated before our last stay and are great! The thing we liked best about it was location! It is close (within walking distance) to everything in the town, pubs, shops, yacht club, 100m to the beach, and the foreshore has just been redone and looks fantastic! Green, beautiful, BBQ areas and playgrounds for kids. We have stayed at other parks in the area and definitely rate Harbour Lights as the best!! Everything we needed in the one spot.Top park!!
Absolutely worst experience we have had in all our travels over this wonderful country of ours. After detailing our concerns to the park we were sent a letter detailing the following. Quote 1. "On arrival many people have not been happy about the lack of these facilities and have received a refund." Quote 2. "The mouse situation is one we have never encountered before.........Gecko poo......the situation was handled very badly." Quote 3. "You are understandably very upset about this and again I apologies, for your experience and the rude and inappropriate response of one staff member." Firstly we were not told of facilities being unavailable until after we had paid. We were then told to put a refund request in writing and the board would decide if we got one. Excuse me for not having much faith in a refund being forthcoming. Secondly I think the furry little creature we left in the trap would be proven by DNA testing to not be a gecko. And thirdly I think a "situation handled very badly" and "a rude and inappropriate response" would be better followed up than with an "I apologies." NEVER NEVER AGAIN. I have never had any cause to complain anywhere we have stayed before.
